Fundraising For Animal Shelter

G'day Dog Lovers,

DCH Animal Adoptions is launching a major fundraising appeal to help abandoned animals – and they need your help. The Sydney-based charity aims to raise $800,000 towards opening their first shelter, which will hold abandoned dogs and cats until they can be placed with the charity’s volunteer foster carers until they find loving new homes.

“At the moment, we are limited in how many animals we can save from death row because our 70 volunteers, who care for the animals in their own homes, are full,” said DCH spokeswoman Judy Findlay.

“Having our own shelter means we can save more lives by having a safe place for the animals to go, until a space opens up for them with a foster carer,” said Judy.

To kick off the appeal, DCH will be holding a Trivia and Charity Auction Dinner on Friday, 7th November 2008 at the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club. High quality prizes such as a 5 day Hunter Valley accommodation package have been donated by local businesses throughout NSW.

DCH Animal Adoptions was formed four years ago by a group of experienced animal rescuers whose goal is to give animals who have been abandoned by their owners and facing death row at council pounds a second chance. In these 4 years, over 1900 dogs, cats and horses owe their lives to the volunteer work of DCH.
