Mosman Council's Dog Policy

G'day Dog Lovers,

Some of you Sydneysiders might have heard that Mosman Council is currently reviewing its policy on dogs and cafes. Council has prepared a new policy in which cafe owners will be asked to identify ''appropriate tie-up areas for dogs'' that are far enough away from food to comply with the law.

Last night the council was considering plans to keep all dogs at cafes tied together and at least 10 metres away from any outdoor diners.

If these new laws do end up coming into force it would be a great shame. There's nothing better than taking your dog for a morning stroll and then sitting down for a cuppa outside one of Mosman's cafes. The dogs usually just curl up at their owner's feet and have a rest - they don't cause any trouble or get anywhere near the food preparation areas. Surely forcing the dogs to be tied up well away from the cafe is going too far?
