I just got an email from RSPCA Qld, thought I better let Queensland readers know. Pass on the news!
In a last ditch attempt to reach the most ambitious summer re-homing target ever, RSPCA Qld’s Fairfield Shelter will be holding an “Adoptathon” this Friday, February 29th.
Staff members are pulling out all stops with everyone volunteering on their days off so that it’s “all hands on deck” for the day. So far this summer RSPCA Queensland Shelters have found homes for over 4,100 animals and they’re well on target to break last year’s record of 4,259!
“It’s not all doom and gloom,” said RSPCA Qld’s Customer Service Manager Ronelle Reid. “To see an animal go to a good home is one of the true pleasures of this job. If you come to the RSPCA to find your perfect “pet match” you will receive the best advice as to what particular animal will suit your lifestyle. The last thing we want is to have an animal returned because things didn’t work out. So please, before you go to a pet shop or encourage puppy farms by buying sight unseen through the newspapers, come to us first!”
All animals for sale at the RSPCA have been de-sexed, micro-chipped, examined by a veterinarian and, in the case of adult dogs, temperament-tested.
