More support for pet owners in bushfire region!

Hi pet lovers,

My name’s Natasha and I’ve recently joined the Dogs Life team as editorial assistant. I just wanted to drop by to introduce myself (hello!) and pass on some news about the wonderful work our friends from DOGS Victoria have been doing to support those affected by the devastating bushfires in Victoria.

To help dog owners get through this tough time, DOGS Victoria have set up an online support area on their website, which provides a long list of generous people who are willing to offer accommodation to people with pets or simply to care for pets while those affected by the fires get back on their feet.

The organisation has also set up a bushfire appeal, with all money donated to be given to anyone who needs help caring for their dog after the fires. The fund is not just for DOGS Victoria members, but also for other members of the community, so if you or someone you know needs items for their pets please contact the organisation!

Another fundraising effort organised by DOGS Victoria is a ‘virtual’ dog show. People who want to participate can enter their dogs for a small $10 fee, who will then be featured in a dog show catalogue. All dogs are eligible to enter, whether they are pedigreed, cross-breeds or even if they are no longer with us. Having already attracted international interest, it’s really heartwarming to see dog lovers around the world rallying together to assist those affected by the fires. You can find out more information here.

And, as Tim mentioned in a previous post, there are a lot of other organisations that could do with your assistance – remember every contribution helps, no matter how big or small!
